2016 Wedding Colors

I've been so busy planning my own wedding, I haven't had time to show you guys my favorite color combos for weddings this year.

So here we go...

1. Cobalt Blue and Fuchsia.
I have to start with my colors of course! I really wanted more of a hot pink and aqua blue but my fiance' and I agreed on this one more AND it's a lot easier to find fuchsia bridesmaids dresses rather than "hot pink". Surprising, right? These colors are bright, fun and very summery.

2. Mint Green and Grey (or cream).
A friend of mine is getting married in July and these are her colors, awesome right? I never think to put a bright color with a soft color, but it looks so good! Use lots of burlap, baby's breath, mason jars and moss for accents. Use purple as an accent color as well.

3. Deep Red and Moss Green.
Sounds like Christmas... but it's not! Perfect for a fall, winter or a Valentine's wedding. It's very romantic.

 

4.  Emerald and Gold.

This looks rich and classy to me. I'm obsessed.

5. Tiffany Blue and Tan. 
Another friend of mine is getting married the same day we are and these are her colors. So pretty! You could go two ways with this.. beachy or rustic. For beachy, I picture: seashells, sand, no shoes. For rustic: I like mason jars, baby's breath, tin buckets, etc. Try Tiffany blue dresses with cream shoes and white flowers!

6. Sage Blue and Light Pink (or peach). 
If I could go back and change my colors, this is probably what I'd pick. It's so soft and sweet. Perfect for a spring wedding. With accents of rose gold it would look amazing.

7. Navy Blue and Eggplant. 
When you think of these two colors in your head they totally don't go, or at least they don't in my mind. But then I saw them and loved it! It's dark and sort of sexy. Perfect for fall! Accent this with gold.

8. Slate Grey and Cream.
Can you say Fifty Shades of Grey? With lace? This is a very trendy color pallet.

9. Sequin. 
That's a color right? I think so! Sequin and sparkle is all the rage right now. I love it too but I think it's very hard to distinguish the difference between classy sequin and sparkle and Vegas showgirl. If you randomly pop in sparkle and have really hot bridesmaids, it's easy! If you put sparkle on everything, be careful, your guests might feel like they're in Las Vegas. Add sparkles to either your table cloths, bridesmaids dresses, vases, or candles but maybe not all of them.

10. Orange.
There are so many pretty shades of orange and you can put them with so many different accent colors, it's very unique. Cadmium orange is very pleasing with grey. Burnt orange and red for fall, coral orange and mint for summer, there are many different ways to use orange in your wedding pallet.

Guest Book Ideas

Guest books can sometimes be boring at weddings. "Sign your name here" just isn't fun anymore. Now days there are so many different things you can do for guests book, why not do something unique?

My favorite guest book idea captures the faces of all the people who attend your wedding. Rent an old Polaroid camera and have your guests take a photo as they arrive at the venue. They can write a little message on the bottom of the photo and add it to a book for you!

A new wedding trend is the "finger print/family tree" guest book. Allow guests to build a beautiful work of art by placing their finger prints on a family tree.

Use your engagement photos as a guest book. Create large images of your engagement photos and put them on some card stock, let guests to write their 'well wishes' for you and then hang the photos in your home later.

A questionnaire book is another personalized guest book idea.  Head over to Shutterfly and make a photo book, inside the book add questions, "How many kids will the couple have?", "When will they buy their first home?" "Leave advice for the bride and groom." etc. Allow your guests to have some fun and answer some questions about you while looking at photos of you.

So, have fun with your guest book! Don't just do the old fashioned "sign your name here" guest book. This is just another way to make every, single part of your day special and different.

A Unique Table Setting

It's amazing how the littlest things at a wedding can make you think "Wow, what a cool idea!". The smallest amount of detail can really fascinate your guests, and it doesn't have to be expensive. I've noticed a lot of brides lately adding little touches to their table settings and I've been thinking of random ideas myself that I'd love to share.

Charger plates--
They always make your table setting look creative and without spending a lot of money, charger plates are almost necessary. Here's an idea for a music loving couple. Use old records! Place old vinyl record under all your plates, heck paste stickers over the album name and put your names and date on the records, guests can even take these home! Such a cool idea.

Or here's another idea for a "rustic wedding" use old slabs of wood as charger plates. This will make the rustic theme in itself. You can find these huge wood pieces pretty much anywhere online. Note: they aren't the cheapest way to spice up your table setting, but definitely cute.

Silverware Setting--
Here's a great spot to add color, texture or creativity. Instead of just laying your silverware on a napkin or wrapping it up, find an interesting way. Wrap the silverware in burlap, or lay the silver ware on a mitten! This is my favorite idea I've seen yet! For a winter wedding, buy $1 mittens (at Target or Walmart) and lay your silverware on the mitten. Each table could have a different color or everyone could match, I'm obsessed!

For an autumn wedding, use leafs! Either real or fake leafs will work. Place your silver ware on bright, orange leafs, it'll add color and excitement when your guests see your table.

And lastly...

Place card holders--

I've done an entire blog entry on place cards before and I can't push enough how easy it is to make your place cards and place card holders unique.  Depending on your theme and the timeliness of your wedding you can do numerous things with your place card holders.

Like pine cones for a fall wedding, or wine corks for a wedding at a winery, the options are unlimited.

Even if you only add one interesting thing to your tables, it'll be worth it. Try to steer away from the generic napkins and votive candles that the reception venue supplies. It only takes a few dollars and a few hours of your time to pop in some originality.

Giving Away Your Garden

Finding the proper and most useful favor for your guests can be A. expensive and B. frustrating. I recently read a blog about a couple who gave away items that they grew in their garden. They personally canned mushrooms, pickles, etc. for their guests to take home. Not only does this allow your guests to take home something they may actually use, but think of how much money you could be saving!

If you're planning a late spring early summer wedding try planting items in your garden for you to give away as favors. Get some cheap mason jars online or, Walmart even sells mason jars in bulk. Start gardening and then start packaging, your guests will love it.
