Not just One, but Two weddings

I've known Janel for years. We grew up playing softball together. Our Dad's were even our coaches through our years of playing ball together.  I was so excited when I saw that she was getting married, I just knew I had to blog about her big day!

 How did your husband propose?
Scott and I were in Hinkley staying at the Grand Casino hotel in January of 2010, celebrating our 3 year anniversary.  I kind of had an idea he was going to propose, or so I thought. We ended up having deep conversation about our future and for sure I thought he was going to propose that night, but he didn't. The next night, Scott was pacing in the room, looking out the window at the "view" as he kept saying, but what I didn't understand, is the view outside of our window was the hotel air conditioner.  About an hour goes by and I'm clueless, just thinking he's not feeling well or isn't having fun.  He then went into the bathroom and came back out, sat on the bed next to me and said, "Will you marry me already?", I was like, "What? Are you frickin' serious?"  And said "yes!"

When and where was your wedding? Reception?
Our official wedding was at St. Huberts in Chanhassen of July 11th.  With Scott's religion we had to have a sacramental marriage in the church for him to receive communion.  This was something that meant a lot to him, so that is what we did.  We had just our immediate family at the church wedding and then we still had our wedding on Saturday July 14th at the Gazebo in downtown Chaska.  Our Reception was at the Grand Palms Event Center in Chaska.

Where did you get your dress and bridesmaids dresses?
My dress was from the Wedding Shoppe, as well as the bridesmaid dresses.

Tuxes?
Tuxes were rented from Glenrose Floral in Chanhassen.

Florist?
Glenrose Floral in Chanhassen.

Cake?
We had a chocolate fondue fountain for our dessert and both our food and dessert were catered by Classic Catering, provided by Grand Palms Event Center.

What was your favorite part of the day?
My favorite part of the whole day was partying it up with all of my friends and family, and watching people bust out the worm on the dance floor.

Who helped you with planning the wedding?
My friend and Bridesmaid, Kayla Pabst.

What advice would you have for brides planning their wedding?
My best advice, is to ask for help.  That is something I didn't do enough of, I ended up doing basically everything on my own and it got to be a lot.

What was one thing that you "splurged" on, something you absolutely needed at your wedding?

One thing I splurged on was getting an amazing photographer.  Deitrich Gesk is his name, his work is amazing and you definitely pay for quality. Also having an open bar.
